Connecting for Compassionate Action is a scheduled event in Seattle this week, following on the heels of the Seeds of Compassion festivities held last year. Though I am unable to attend, I am intrigued by the question that will be posed to those who participate.
The announcement I received describes the event in this way: Rather than listening to presentations and speeches, participants will share their gifts in an open space format. This will allow attendees to convene and attend sessions in the spirit of community discovery, exploration, and collaboration.
As the attendees gather in small groups, they will be asked to respond to this question: How shall we inspire and support compassionate action in ourselves, our communities, and our world?
Great question! What does compassionate action look like to you? How do you partake in compassionate action? What can you do/have you done to inspire others to show compassion?
I could fill this post with lots of stories about people I know, and how the generosity of their hearts has made life more special for the recipients of their compassion. Kendra offering a meal to someone on the street. Ann continuing in a career that helps people in moments of disaster. Rosemary returning to her native country to build a health clinic. Gayle volunteering to compile statistics on domestic abuse so interventions can be determined.
RemarkAble Woman, I know your name is on that list. How would you respond to that question if you were at Connecting for Compassionate Action? What's your story?
